Return to ~REMEMBERING~

Go Here for Don Shelton's Tribute Page to Marvin Shields

BACKGROUND:

When I saw the tribute to Marvin Shields in Don Shelton's website I
immediately e-mailed him and said I was considering placing a link on the REMEMBERING page and I asked what the relationship was between he
and Shields.

I promptly received the response shown below.
Thanks Don - works for me.

4 July 1999 - Don Shelton's e-mail response:

"I am in the Dallas area, but I met a guy in Bremerton on the net. He got
involved in an effort to replace the flag pole in the cemetery where
Shields is buried. The crew cleaned up the place and (rebuilt or replace,
not sure now) updated the flag pole. In conversations with him, I asked
about Shields and he sent me a lot of information which I decided to put
in a tribute page.

Since I created the page, I have received email from his wife, daughter,
and (the) parents of the person killed at the same battle. They wanted to
contact the Shields family, so I provided addresses.
I'm glad to see someone providing tributes to fallen comrades. There
is not enough patriotism now, maybe your pages can help reinstate some
pride in country and in serving that country.

My relationship.... friend of a friend of the family...
tnx
don"
